The title of this post is from the Grey's episode this week. It was something Sloan had told Avery about telling someone you love them, even if you are afraid, just say it loud and go from there. This got me thinking about telling people anything. I know that this will not relate to some people, but I hope there are a few of you out there who are like me and have trouble saying what you want or feel. I am very much a person who does not like confrontation. I want everyone to be happy and if I can do that I am a happy camper. However, when any confrontation arises I would be the first to say that I shy away from getting involved. That even includes when I would like to say something, but I know that it may cause conflict. I typically will choose not to say it or I will after the fact.
This idea of say it loud and go from there kind of stuck with me. We all have the right to feel the way we do about something, to have our own opinions, and are own ideas. We don't always have to be right or win in the end, but we all have the right to say it and to mean it. Then and only then, are we able to figure things out from there. But if we never say what we are thinking, how will anyone know? How will we be heard?
So, I'm still all for everyone being happy, and I wish that could be the truth the majority of days, but if you have something you would like to say, say it loud and then go from there. Whatever happens, happens, but at least you did your part.
Be bold.
