Have you ever been curious about something, asked a question (logical or not), and then not received an answer that seemed to fit in your mind. If not you should, curiosity is good for the soul, but we'll save that topic for another day.
Depending on how well you know me, you may have heard me ramble on and on about these two particular questions that I cannot seem to find a reasonable answer to. So, I thought to myself, "Heck! Why not blog about it? Maybe I'll get lucky and someone in Croatia will happen to stumble upon my blog and have the answer that I have been diligently and patiently waiting for.
So here it goes, I'll start with what I believe is the "easier" of the two. Or at least I believe someone out there will have an answer for me.
Why don't we pronounce countries the way that people in that country do? Instead of having so many different ways to say a certain countries name. For example: ( I am going to use English and Spanish because that is all I know) Everyone should call The United States, The United States, and everyone should call "Spain", Espana. I feel like it would just be easier if we pronounce them the way the people who live in that country do. Less confusion, I like less confusion. Now, most people have told me that it is easier to have different names due to a certain cultures way of speaking. It may be easier for Spaniards to say los estados unidos instead of The United States. I can accept that answer, but I don't know if it's the best answer out there.
Now for the question that keeps me up at night...Why is The Cosby Show called the Cosby Show? Yes, Bill Cosby does star in the show, however his name on the show is Heathcliff Huxtable. The show is about the Huxtable family not the Cosby family. An answer I have received a lot, but I'm not buying it is that Bill Cosby is a writer of the show. I'm not entirely sure if that is a true statement, it may be, but I don't feel like that is a reason for the show to be named after him. It's not about him, it's about the Huxtables! Gah! Please someone! Do you have an answer to this ridiculous and highly important question of mine??
Also, feel free to post unanswered questions of your own, maybe someone can help you out too!
