Jazz It Up

The word jazz has a lot of special meanings to me.

It's the genre of music I enjoy playing the trumpet and piano.

The Three Trumpeteers

It's the name I gave my cat.

Isn't she cute?

But never in a million and one years did I think "jazz" would have any meaning to me regarding my workout of choice. I can give this credit to my sister, who took me to a Jazzercise class with her.

Now, I did go willingly, however I do recall giving her a hard time that we would be the two youngest people there. But after an hour of sweating and working hard I was hooked. Yes, I will say that "Jazz", as the instructors call it, has a stereotype that it is only for older women. But really, it is for people of all ages. It's Zumba before Zumba was even "invented". I'm not sure what all consists of Zumba in a class, I've only played on my wii, but I can imagine that if I walked into a Zumba class I would not be able to decipher too quickly if it was Zumba or Jazzercise. The music may be a little bit different, the clientele a little bit different, but overall they are the same concept. It's really great actually. While you are there you know you're working because you can feel a strain, and you sweat up a storm, and the next day you know that you did something. But at the same time, you don't really know you are getting in a workout because of the music. You're like, "oh I'm just dancing".  So if you're in the need for a workout change, check it out, it's a good time!
